Eire Og were crowned Carlow senior football champions for the third year in-a-row at Netwatch Cullen Park today.

The town side eased to a convincing 1-16 to 0-5 final success over Palatine.

Recce Denieffe’s 28th minute goal pushed the holders into a 1-7 to 0-3 interval lead and they maintained their stranglehold on proceedings after the break.

Five points without reply left Palatine with too big a mountain to climb.

Chris Blake took the scoring honours with 0-6 (four frees) for the Sean Gannon captained winners while goalkeeper Rickie Keating also got in on the scoring with a free.

Eire Og could even afford the luxury of a missed Derek Hayden penalty in the opening period.
