Byrne remains grounded

August 28, 2019

Tinryland joint-captain Conor Byrne has played down their SFC win over Eire Og last weekend.

A 2-07 to 1-07 win over the county champions has Tinryland in a great position in the senior football championship.

However, speaking to the Carlow Nationalist, Byrne was keen not to get carried away by the result as he stressed there were a lot of games to go yet.

“We are happy to get the win,” said Byrne. “We realised our performance against Ballinabranna was probably not up to scratch.

“Look, it is just another championship win. It is one we really wanted to have as there is a good rivalry between ourselves and Eire Og.”

Tinyrland will now play Palatine in the quarterfinal, with the last eight games due to be played on the weekend of September 15th.
