The Super 8s beckon for Tyrone, Mayo, Cork and Meath…

 

1. Niall Morgan (Tyrone)

The Red Hands ruthlessly disposed of the Cavan challenge in Clones – Morgan kept a clean sheet and contributed two converted frees.

2. Chris Barrett (Mayo)

Barrett and his full-back line colleagues, Brendan Harrison and Keith Higgins, were at their miserly best against their arch rivals.

3. James Loughrey (Cork)

Cork backed up their industrious Munster final performance with an impressive 14-point qualifier victory over Laois.

4. Rory Brennan (Tyrone)

A resolute defensive display by Brennan & Co restricted the Breffni County to three points from play.

5. Donal Keogan (Meath)

The Royal County’s joint-captain led by example as they scraped over Clare to qualify for the business end of the All-Ireland series.

6. Padraic Harnan (Meath)

Harnan missed the Leinster final defeat due to injury but proved what an important player he is for Andy McEntee’s side against the Banner County.

7. Colm Boyle (Mayo)

As James Horan and his players turn their attention to next weekend’s mouth-watering clash with Kerry, the county’s supporters will be hoping Boyle can continue his rich vein of form.

8. Gary Brennan (Clare)

Big performances from key men such as their captain saw Clare push Meath all the way.

9. Peter Cooke (Galway)

Midfielder Cooke was one of a few Galway players to perform up to scratch in the Connacht derby and he kicked four first-half points.

10. James Carr (Mayo)

The newcomer sent his team on the road to victory with two early goals and his second will feature prominent in the goal of the season permutations.

11. Mark Collins (Cork)

Along with his Castlehaven clubmate Brian Hurley, Collins caused havoc in the O’Moore County’s defence and finished with 1-8 (1-4 from play) to his name. 

12. Jamie Malone (Clare)

The half-forward was a constant thorn in the side of the Royal County and gave an exhibition of long range point taking.

13. Darren Coen (Mayo)

Coen, once again, underlined his worth to his county’s cause with three valuable points from play.

14. Cathal McShane (Tyrone)

With the Super 8s due to get underway this weekend, Roscommon manager Anthony Cunningham will be busy trying to come up with a plan to curb McShane’s influence.

15. Brian Hurley (Cork)

Hurley hit Laois for 2-4 in an eye-catching display of finishing.
