Carlow manager Turlough O’Brien has stressed that his players will fight tooth and nail in the remainder of the NFL 3 campaign.

The Barrowsiders' win over Louth last weekend keeps them very much in the hunt for promotion after it looked as if they may have been dragged into a relegation battle had they lost to the Wee County.

However, a hard fought win over the then league leaders has kept them in touch of current leaders Down who have eight points, while Carlow have five.

While, the threat of relegation has not gone entirely, Carlow need to push on in their last two games and O’Brien told the Carlow Nationalist that is exactly what they will do.

“Louth were top of the table going into the game and we were looking at heading down the other end of the table,” said O’Brien.

“We have five points and we are back in the mix now. The lads are very focused and have put too much into this to go down without a fight.”

Carlow’s next match is against Down at Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday, March 16th.
