The knockout stages of the Carlow senior football championship are now known and Mount Leinster Rangers go through to the quarterfinals, having picked up a solitary point from the group phase.

There will be teams up and down the county cursing their luck to have missed out on a place in the knockout stages even though they may have picked up a few wins and draws in their respective campaigns.

However, Mount Leinster Rangers, who are a more noted hurling club and former Leinster club SH champions, recorded a draw against Kilbride last weekend, which was their first point of the campaign.

Taken from the Carlow GAA website.

Having lost their previous two games, they still manage to be one of the three teams that come out of a four-team group with just one point.

Kilbride finished on one point also as they too had lost their opening two matches, but they lost out on score difference to MLR, by yes you guessed it, one solitary point.

MLR will now play Tinryland, while Rathvilly face St Andrew's. Eire Og and Palatine await the winners in the semi finals.
