Wicklow's hopes of bringing All-Ireland champions Dublin to Aughrim for their Leinster SFC quarter-final clash have been dashed.
Leinster Council has confirmed that the glamour tie will take place in O'Moore Park on Sunday week, May 27 at 4pm. Speaking after yesterday's extra-time win over Offaly, Wicklow manager John Evans had expressed the hope that the local derby would be played in Joule Park as it would be an ideal opportunity to promote Gaelic football in the Garden County.
Two other Leinster SFC quarter-finals will also be played on May 27. Kildare will face Carlow in Bord na Mona O'Connor Park at 2pm, with Longford hosting Meath at 3pm in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.
The other quarter-final tie between Westmeath and Laois will throw-in at 5pm in Bord na Mona O'Connor Park on the previous day. It is due to form part of a double-header with the Leinster SHC round-robin tie between Offaly and Wexford, which will clash with the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid if it goes ahead at 7pm.
