On Sunday, Briege Corkery could match her former Cork team-mate Rena Buckley’s phenomenal haul of 18 All-Ireland medals.

Buckey is currently out on her own as the most decorated intercounty player in GAA history, having scooped eleven senior football and seven senior camogie titles during the course of a glittering career with the Rebel County.

The Inniscarra and Donoughmore club player retired from intercounty duty in May, having collected her seventh camogie All-Ireland as captain last September (the previous ones coming in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2014 and 2015) as well as her tenth All Star.

Briege – who has amassed no fewer than 16 All Stars - featured alongside Rena on all of those All-Ireland winning camogie teams except last year’s as she took a year out. She also shared in the football wins of 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Victory over Kilkenny at Croke Park on Sunday will see her join her former team-mate in a very exclusive club indeed.
