Former Derry minor star Conor Glass has signed a two-year contract extension with AFL club Hawthorn, which will keep him at the Melbourne club until 2019.

Glass made his breakthrough with the Hawks just two weeks ago by impressing as a substitute in their 100-48 win over Fremantle.

The performance saw him retaining his place on the team in last weekend's victory over Sydney Swans and since then the 19-year-old has been awarded an extension.

"I signed a two-year contract, which signs me up until the end of 2019," Glass told Hawks TV.

"The first year I'll be on the Rookie list again, the second year I'll be upgraded. Because of the new CBA, I'll be able to play next year as a Rookie so it's a win win next year and glad to be staying at the club.

"It's pretty surreal. I'm just taking each game as they come.

"Playing at the MCG was unbelievable - Friday night lights against Sydney, it couldn't get any bigger than that. It's come very quickly but I'm enjoying it."
