Wicklow manager Davy Burke has reiterated his sentiments that his team is full of leaders.

Those leaders were called upon last Sunday, when the Garden County ground out a home win against Sligo at Aughrim in terrible conditions.

The win keeps Wicklow very much in the hunt for promotion and Burke has once again commended the attitude of his players who he feels are driving the whole team on.

“They were immense,” hailed Burke. “Again, you can throw Rory Finn in there with (Dean Healy, Seanie Furlong and Darren Hayden), Podge O’Toole, I thought was excellent.

“For 38 minutes in that second half, we had some great fellas who know what they are doing. I thought the character to go in (at half time) five up, after conceding 1-01 on the bounce with the breeze, showed great mental strength and resolve. I am delighted with that.”

He added: “I am so impressed with some of the leaders and some of the brains on this team. It is probably the biggest crowd of brains on this team. It is probably the biggest crowd of brains that I have come across.”
