Kildare forward Fergal Conway believes that Jack O’Connor’s appointment as county senior football manager has brought a renewed excitement among the squad.

The Kildare footballers have already begun their tenure under the former Kerry All-Ireland winning manager and Conway has been impressed already.

“It’s brilliant to have a man like Jack with us, his credentials are top class, has huge experience and he along with Ross (Glavin) and Tom (Cribbin) we are all looking forward to the next 12 months and beyond,” Conway told the Leinster Leader.

“We are only back in training a few weeks but we can see already what these lads bring to the table and no doubt it can only get better as the season progresses.

“You can see it in the new lads in and plenty of the lads that have five, six and more years’ experience but we all have to prove our worth to the new management but the hard work has begun, you have to get into the foundation, fitness stuff for the year ahead but already everyone is putting their best foot forward and I’m really looking forward to it; can’t wait to get going competitively.”
