Clare county board have tonight confirmed Brian Lohan and Louis Mulqueen as the two nominees for the county’s senior hurling manager vacancy.
A new boss in the Banner County was expected to be announced earlier this month, but an interview process has since taken place and narrowed the race down to Lohan and Mulqueen.
Both men will now battle it out in a bid to succeed outgoing joint managers Donal Moloney and Gerry O’Connor, with the former having dropped out of the race to become sole manager a fortnight ago.
Lohan, who is a two-time All-Ireland winner, previously steered UL to Fitzgibbon Cup glory in 2015 while Mulqueen was part of Clare’s backroom team when they captured the Liam MacCarthy Cup six years ago and the National League in 2016.
