Former Dublin and St Vincent's All-Ireland football winner Ger Brennan has taken his first step into club management with Bray Emmets.

Brennan, who is the Gaelic Games Executive with UCD Sport, will be aiming to end the Emmets' long wait for a Wicklow SFC title next year. Bray were recently crowned Wicklow senior hurling champions for a fifth time, but have gone nearly 85 years without winning a senior football championship.

This year, they failed to progress from the group stages after losing out to eventual semi-finalists Avondale.

"Ger's background with St Vincent's, UCD and Dublin is fantastic. He will bring a professionalism that will hopefully turn us into championship contenders. We've had a great year in the hurling and it would be wonderful if we could replicate that in the football next year," Bray Emmets chairman Paul Cunningham told hoganstand.com.
