Clontibret 1-14
Scotstown 0-11
Conor McManus produced another man of the match performance as Clontibret put paid to Scotstown's bid for a five-in-a-row of Monaghan SFC titles at Clones.
The county star scored 0-6, including 0-4 from play, as the challengers ran out surprisingly comfortable winners. They led from start to finish and were full value for their 0-9 to 0-3 interval lead, although Scotstown did pass up on a couple of early goal-scoring opportunities.
The Saffrons added three more points without reply after the restart per McManus, Killian Lavelle and Pauric Boyle to extend their lead to nine before a Rory Beggan free sparked a Scotstown revival that saw them reduce the deficit to four points with five minutes of normal time to go.

But their long reign as county champions was ended when McManus set up substitute Ryan McGuigan for the only goal and Jack Gormley completed the scoring with a fisted point.
There were joyous scenes afterwards when Clontibret joint-captains Brian Greenan and Pauric Boyle were presented with the Mick Duffy Cup.
