Alan Dillon expects Cillian O'Connor to overtake Colm Cooper in the all-time scoring charts sooner rather than later and has also hit out at comments made by former Kerry manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice.

A return of five points in Killarney this Sunday would see the 27-year-old Mayo sharpshooter overtake the 'Gooch' at the summit of the top championship scorer chart and, speaking to the Irish Daily start, his Ballintubber club-mate Dillon said: "It would be terrific personally for Cillian, I would love to see him do it.

"He will break it, if it's not this weekend it'll be next weekend.

"It's just a matter of time really, he's still only 27 so I think the most important thing is that Mayo get their performance right."

Meanwhile, two-time All-Star Dillon didn't take kindly to charges of gamesmanship being levelled at his former team-mates by ex-Kerry manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice.

"I hear comments this week from Eamonn Fitzmaurice about cynical exploitation of head injuries.

"I think its no coincidence it's happening this week.

"(There is) a lot of talk in the media around influencing referees and it's very disappointing to hear that."
