Owen Mulligan says there was nothing ‘sinister’ about Tyrone players singing a Rebel song on their way home from their All-Ireland SF qualifier win over Cavan.
Red Hands boss Mickey Harte issued an apology after a video emerged of his players singing “Come Out Ye Black and Tans” as their team bus passed a parade organised by the Lisgenny Flute Band in Aughnacloy on Saturday night.
However, three-time All-Ireland winner Mulligan doesn’t see what all the fuss is about.
“The Tyrone team freeing Ireland in the back of the team bus on Sunday after beating Cavan and progressing into the Super 8s was just lads having craic,” the Paddy Power ambassador remarked.
“We’ve all been there after winning high-profile games.
“There’s always one lad that knows every rebel song ever written and belts them out.
“People needlessly twisted this into something much more sinister.
“What would they have preferred hearing them sing? Incy Wincy Spider?”Tweet
