Paul Walsh helped himself to four goals at Castlebar tonight as Mayo’s minors defeated Sligo by 5-7 to 1-10.

Victory hands the Mayo lads a provincial final date with Galway at Tuam on Friday week.

It was effectively done and dusted at half time after a brace of Walsh goals in the eighth and tenth minutes gave the home team a commanding 2-6 to 0-3 interval lead.

Walsh punched to the net 13 minutes after the restart to complete his hat-trick and leave eleven points between the sides, 3-7 to 0-5.

Jack Davitt pulled back a consolation goal on 48 minutes and the Yeats County continued to battle, reducing the arrears to six only for Ciaran Mylett to plunder the fourth Mayo goal at the end of a brilliant team move on 55 minutes.

Walsh grabbed his fourth two minutes later and the hosts had nine points to spare at the final whistle.
