Royals sweat on Harnan ahead of Leinster final

Meath's Padraic Harnan celebrates his goal against Carlow

Meath defender Padraic Harnan is racing to be fit for his county’s Leinster SFC final meeting with Dublin on Sunday week.

Harnan, who returned home at the end of 2018 after a year’s travelling, produced an excellent individual display in the Royals’ provincial quarter-final victory over Carlow last month, netting a goal in the 2-18 to 0-9 triumph in Portlaoise.

However, a groin injury picked up in training ruled him out of last Sunday’s win over Laois at Croke Park and it is understood that the Moynalvey clubman is now ‘50/50’ to feature against the Dubs at headquarters on June 23rd.

Ranked as 16/1 outsiders, Meath are gunning for their first Leinster final victory in nine years in what will be their first appearance in a eastern provincial decider since 2012.
