A grizzled veteran at 25

He's far from the youngest player in the Limerick team but it's still hard to believe that Shane Dowling is only 25!

Although he's got a good four or five years on many of his team-mates who helped the Treaty County to All-Ireland glory on Sunday, Dowling - who came off the bench to make match-winning, goal-scoring contributions in the semi-final against Cork and last weekend's victory over Galway - is very much the Benjamin Button in the camp.

He's been part of the Limerick senior hurling squad since 2012 and has won an All-Ireland senior club championship with Na Piarasaigh as well as four Limerick and four Munster SHC medals. One of the veterans of the current, all-conquering Treaty County side, it's amazing to think that he's a mere 25.

To put it into context, that's four years younger than upcoming snooker ace Judd Trump, two years younger than Ed Sheeran, one birthday cake less than Cillian O'Connor and only a year longer on the planet than actress Saoirse Ronan. Still a dinosaur compared to most of this team-mates, though!
