Having spent the majority of last year sidelined through injury, Roscommon defender Fergal Lennon is determined to appreciate every minute on the field.

Speaking to the Roscommon Herald, the Clann na nGael clubman stated that it was difficult sitting on the sidelines last year. However, he added that his appetite for the game has intensified.

This year, Lennon has accumulated over 400 minutes of football in the NFL and looks set to start against Leitrim in Saturday's Connacht SFC semi-final.

And the Johnstown native is determined to make the most of his playing time.

"Championship can be short, it can be just two games. You certainly want to make the most of it straight away, to be ready for the game and be fired up, because it can be over quickly," said Lennon.

"I didn't know a whole lot about the personnel for Leitrim or New York going into their game, you don't get to watch much division four and of course New York don't play any games. We've done our research since we've known it's Leitrim and we're ready to give it everything now."
