Patrickswell and Kilmallock enjoyed comfortable first round wins in the Limerick SHC today.
2016 champions Patrickswell began life after Barry Foley by easing to a 3-24 to 3-10 victory over Adare at the Gaelic Grounds. Aaron Gillane and Seanie O'Brien netted in the first half to help them to a 2-8 to 0-4 interval lead.
O'Brien raised his second green flag in the 43rd minute to make it 3-13 to 0-6 before Declan Hannon (two) and Willie Griffin scored late consolation goals for Adare.
Earlier in the Gaelic Grounds, 2014 winners Kilmallock romped to a 1-24 to 0-14 win over Ballybrown, for whom Alan O'Connor posted 0-12 from placed balls. Kilmallock took a 0-13 to 0-8 lead into the break and streaked clear in the second half thanks to four points from the impressive Graeme Mulcahy.
Meanwhile, Monaleen opened their campaign in Caherconlish last night with a 0-20 to 0-16 victory over Knockainey.
