O'Donoghue nears return

Kerry attacker James O'Donoghue

Good news for Kerry supporters as key forward James O'Donoghue is very near to a return.

Kerry manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice explained to the Kerryman that O'Donoghue was on the verge of returning to full training.

The Killarney Legion player has had his fair share of injuries in the last eighteen months or so and he will be hoping that his latest setback will be the last for a while.

Fitzmaurice added that their championship squad is almost at full fitness ahead of the start of the Munster SFC.

"James O'Donoghue is almost back. He is just about to get back into training. He has been unlucky over the winter. He worked very hard and then picked up a freak injury against Donegal. He has been nursing that and getting back to full health. He is almost back, thankfully. Hopefully, he'll get a club game or two in over the next couple of weeks and get that bit of sharpness into him as well.

"Donnchadh (Walsh) is back, Anthony (Maher) is back, Kieran (Donaghy) is back. Killian (Young) is still a couple of weeks away but has made good progress. It has been frustrating for him because he has been out for a good while with it. He has been very diligent. Killian is three to four weeks away."
