John Kiely cut a contented figure after claiming his first silverware as Limerick hurling manager yesterday.

Minus their Na Piarsaigh contingent, the Treatymen produced a dominant second half display to beat neighbours Clare in the Munster SHL final at the Gaelic Grounds.

"I am happy with the overall display. It was a physical contest and we kept our shape well. We know there are big challenges ahead, but this was a very satifsying workout," Kiely enthused in the Irish Daily Star.

"We failed to score a goal and Clare might well have got one early on, but we survived that scare and opened the scoring with two points inside four minutes.

"It's a step in the right direction, it sets us up as good as we would like to be set up before the Allianz League, which I have no doubt there is going to be some tricky fixtures along the way with that as well."
