Wexford GAA secretary Margaret Doyle has painted a bleak picture over the county's finances, despite there being a surplus of €182,280 for 2017.
Speaking through her annual report to the county convention, which the Wexford People published this week, Doyle stresses that the surplus is not money in the bank as it is needed to maintain their loan and lease agreement as well as team costs.
In fact, Doyle revealed that a surplus of €250,000 was required to meet these costs which continue to escalate on an annual basis, something that all county boards have had to deal with.
In 2017, the Wexford County board spent €954,224 on their inter-county teams, which is an increase of €250,000 from the previous year.
