Derrygonnelly manager Martin Greene admitted that he is already thinking about the 2018 campaign.

Greene could be forgiven for wanting to switch off from football for a while following the heart breaking defeat to Cavan Gaels in the Ulster club SFC semi-final last weekend.

The drawn game may have been a low scoring affair, but the replay didn't disappoint as it was end to end from start to finish, but it was the Cavan side that got a crucial late goal to see them over the line.

Greene states in the Fermanagh Herald that their dressingroom was at a low ebb at the full time whistle.

"It's a hard day when you lose a game of football like that. It's a gut wrenching dressingroom," said Greene. "The lads put everything into it so we are bitterly disappointed, we led after Ryan Jones' superb 55 metre point and we just gave them one more chance and fair play to Cavan Gaels they took that chance."

He added: "We'll do our best to resurrect over the winter and see where we go from here. We were leading six minutes into seven additional minutes at the end of the second half, we had a clear free to move two points clear.

"It's just fine margins. I couldn't ask anymore of the lads. We aren't far away, but we are still back in round one of the Fermanagh club championship come 2018."
