School friends to rival county footballers

February 08, 2019

Dunshaughlin CC joint captains Darragh Campion and Ross McQuillan raise the 2016 North Leinster Post Primary Schools Senior C Football Championship Shield at St. Lomans Mullingar.

Two secondary school friends will be on opposing sides on Sunday when Meath welcome Armagh to Navan.

Both Darragh Campion (Meath) and Ross McQuillan (Armagh) attended Dunshaughlin Community College together and were co-captains when the Dublin border school claimed the Leinster Senior Football C Championship title three years ago.

Skryne clubman Campion was only called up to the Meath senior squad this year and has already nailed down a starting spot in Andy McEntee's team, scoring 0-3 in last weekend's defeat to Donegal.

A son of former Armagh footballer Martin, McQuillan made his senior championship debut under Kieran McGeeney last summer and made a big impression at a recent AFL combine in Dublin.

It will be interesting to see if the school friends cross paths at Pairc Tailteann this weekend...
