The performance of the day in the second division came from the Kingdom at windswept Austin Stack Park, where they recorded a magnificent 2-11 to 0-14 victory over Offaly. The hosts played into the elements in the first half but Colum Harty’s injury-time major had them in touch at the break, 0-10 to 1-3, Eoghan Cahill with six of Offaly’s first-half scores.

The turning point arrived on 45 minutes when Kerry plundered their second goal and Offaly had Cillian Kiely sent off.

Meanwhile, the Glensmen also picked up their second win of the campaign, Alex Delargy (2), Dan McCloskey and Niall McKenna their goalscorers as they pushed Mayo aside at Loughgiel.

Nick Weir’s winners trailed by 2-13 to 2-9 at the break, Andy O'Brien and Eoin McCormack the Garden County’s goalscorers, but battled back to win despite a second McCormack major and a red card for Alan Douglas six minutes from the end.

Meanwhile, in Division 2B, Down enjoyed a 3-23 to 0-11 win over Roscommon at Ballycran and Derry prevailed in Ruislip against London, 4-15 to 2-18, Sé McGuigan and Eoghan Cassidy with vital second-half Oak Leaf goals.
