Video: 'Good news story' for Antrim

June 27, 2019

More than 5000 Primary School children were coached in 16 schools

Antrim gaels have lauded a successful start to the GAA's 5 Star Centres project across the county from January to June.

More than 5000 Primary School children were coached in 16 schools and the number has risen dramatically to 87 schools signing up for Phase Two in September.

"It really lifts the spirits," says Antrim GAA Ambassador Anto Finnegan, speaking at St Mary's University. "They've made a really strong start to the programme."

Antrim Chairperson Ciaran McCavana describes Gaelfast as a 'tangible good news story' and says it has 'hit the ground faster than I thought it would, which is a credit to the staff, teachers, schools and trainee teachers from St Mary's.

Report by Jerome Quinn for Gaelfast.
