Waterford scored a late 1-9 to 1-8 victory over Antrim at WIT

Waterford’s dramatic victory over Antrim in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League drew a crowd of just 86 fans to Carriganore this afternoon.

RTE Sport has reported the poor turn out at the windswept Waterford IT ground, where James McGrath’s 73rd minute point handed the Deise men their second win of the campaign on a 1-9 to 1-8 final score-line.

The conditions made it difficult for both sides as the hosts went in leading by 0-6 to 0-5 at the end of the first-half before falling behind to Stephen Beatty’s goal eight minutes into the restart.

From there, the Saffrons looked to be on their way to victory as they opened up a five-point lead but instead got their promotion hopes ended as they shipped 1-3 in the final quarter, including a 57th minute goal from Dylan Guiry and McGrath’s late winner.
